PCI - An Acronym that Should Concern You
As you are no doubt aware, identity theft has been increasing at an exponential rate.  The theft of credit card information is responsible for much of the identity theft now occurring.  The credit card processing industry could feel the hot breath of government breathing down their necks in its haste to pass new laws protecting card data.  As such, the industry implemented its own standards - known as PCI.

While many of the elements of the PCI standard are common sense business practices, others can be quite daunting for small businesses.  Despite this, your failure to comply can lead to excessive charges from your credit card processor, as well as the loss of your service.  The consequences of having credit card data stolen are even worse - lawsuits, loss of customer confidence, and bad PR - assuming your business survives at all.

We at eNable recognize that these requirements can be overwhelming for small organizations.  As such, we will be focusing on PCI in the coming months, and working to help make this requirement achievable for small businesses.

Upcoming Class on PCI Compliance

Lojack for your Laptop
You have probably heard of Lojack for your car - a device planted in the car which allows it to be located via satellite if stolen.  Now, you can get Lojack for your laptop.

The Lojack software works in conjunction with the firmware on your laptop.  Once installed, it insulates itself from removal even if your drive is erased, or if Windows is reinstalled.  If you report your laptop stolen, a locating center staffed by former police officers works to locate your PC.  They do this using information secretly transmitted by your laptop over the Internet.

While few stolen laptops are ever recovered, the manufacturer claims a 75% recovery rate on Lojack-equipped laptops.  The street price for the standard edition is around $35 per year.

eDrawer Economic Stimulus
The folks at LSSP have recognized that during these difficult economic times, many companies are deferring discretionary spending.  Given their (and our) strong belief that document management is critical to reducing your operating costs, they have announced greatly reduced pricing until further notice:

5-user license, with OCR                   $825
10-user license, with OCR              $1,124
25-user license, with OCR              $1,625
Unlimited license, with OCR           $2,125

These prices are only guaranteed for 15 days, so if you have even considered document management, now is the time to act!  Note that these prices do not include the web access system, and professional installation will incur a nominal charge.
