eNabling Your
Business January

Happy New Year
and Thanks for 2008
It is hard to believe that we have already reached the last
year of the decade!
We at eNable wanted to take a moment to thank you, our
customers, for helping to make 2008 a success for us. We try
never to take you for granted, for without you, we do not
exist. If we can ever do anything to help you in any way, do
not hesitate to ask.
We wish you a propserous and successful 2009. Remember,
your success is not governed by economists, government officials, or
the media. We can all succeed and prosper despite the economic
challanges.
Or more specifically, the magazine rack. Our article,
"Bringing your Phone System Into the 21st Century" was published in
the Jan/Feb 2008 issue of Rev! Magazine. While the primary
focus of the article is churches and non-profit organizations, all
of the concepts apply to businesses as well.
Look for Rev! Magazine on newstands now. If you would
like a reprint of the article, please call or email us. How to Choose
a Flat Panel Monitor
Flat panel monitors are no longer a luxury, having almost
completely displaced CRT monitors. They have clearer displays,
take up less space, and use less energy. Given their
popularity, the number of models available and the price ranges have
become almost limitless, making it difficult to choose the right
monitor for your needs.
The following, based on a Tech Republic article, covers the
major factors to consider when selecting a flat panel monitor:
- Input - There are two primary video
interfaces available today. VGA, which was the standard with
CRT monitors, is still supported by many flat panel monitors
because many older PCs still depend on it. DVI, the newer
digital interface, provides for much greater resolution.
When selecting a monitor, make sure it supports the same interface
as your PC (some PCs will support both). VGA uses a small
connector with three rows of pins, whereas DVI uses a larger
connector which has a large rectangular pin on one side.
- Resolution - This is an indication of the
sharpness of the monitor picture. It represents the number
of pixels horizontally and vertically (usually a number like 1024
x 768). When comparing two monitors with the same viewable
size, always select the one with the higher resolution.
- Size - When comparing the size of different
monitors, remember that "parts is not parts". Viewable size,
or the portion of a monitor devoted to actual visual display, can
vary significantly among monitors of the same size. Make
sure to compare the viewable size, and not just the monitor
size.
