eDrawer Smart Scan

Smart Scan, released by LSSP in July 2008, is one of the most powerful automation features available in the document management market today.  Previously, when filing documents, human intervention was required to place a document in the correct drawer and folder.  While faster than dealing with paper, this was still a time consuming task.

With Smart Scan, you have the ability to define a set of rules as to how documents will be filed.  The options available include the ability to look for a word, phrase, pattern, or bar code in any section of a document.  You can apply multiple rules for each document type, and can define as many document types as desired.  Once rules are defined, you can place all documents in a single folder, and allow the system to apply the rules and place documents in the proper place.

As an example, assume you receive invoices from a number of sources.  With Smart Scan, you can define rules that allow you to separate those invoices by vendor, and place them in different drawers or folders.  You can also apply templates as part of the process, which allows you to store information like invoice number, date, and amount in appropriate information columns.
